About Linda

Linda loves designing, playing with color and patterns, and combining different materials to create her pieces. A lifelong maker, she enjoys baking, sewing, gardening. Linda wove her first basket in 1987, opened her shop in 1990, and began teaching in 1991.

Starting out with simple reed baskets, her journey grew when she attended the Stowe Basketry Festival, where she learned from top instructors and was encouraged to teach professionally. Since then, Linda has taught at conferences, guilds, art centers, and organizations nationwide. Her award-winning baskets have been exhibited widely, and she is a member of the National Basketry Association and other art organizations, selling her work at juried shows and online.

Highlights of her career include designing baskets for Disney store displays and having one featured in Martha Stewart Living. But what means the most to Linda is hearing from students about how her classes have made a difference in their lives.

Living near the Canadian border in Northern New York, Linda finds endless inspiration in nature. Known for her Adirondack Pack Baskets and her relaxing “waxed linen time,” she continues to share her love of basketry wherever she goes.

Workshop Details

Immerse yourself in a collective of waxed linen, cotton cord and more. This five-day workshop is designed for beginner to advanced weavers.

Have you ever wondered how Linda achieves the shape of her baskets, how to use what beads and where, or perhaps how to not have a mistake/bad side of the basket? Linda has many unique-to-her techniques and tips to teach you how to create seamless, colorful, and award-winning baskets.

On Day One, all students will start a waxed linen project and a cotton cord project. Beginner students will weave a simple design while learning basic techniques. Intermediate to advanced students are encouraged to weave a design with more detail. Linda will work with each student individually to discuss and make a plan to accomplish your individual goals for the week. There will be many samples for inspiration.

Throughout the week, techniques and shaping will be the major focus. Demonstrations will include twining, triple twining, quad twining, multiple styles of bases, creating a foot with and without beads, incorporating beads in design, various shapes, inner liner, rims, lids, and weaving over a container. Demonstrations will also include how to hide ends of weavers and make a seamless row (no bad side of basket). Linda will discuss the different materials she weaves with, the characteristics of them, and how they work in a basket. Advanced students will have the opportunity to work in creating designs. There will be instructions and information for students to take home.
